The Team

Dr. Amy Hsu is an Investigator at the Bruyère Research Institute and holds a uOttawa Brain and Mind-Bruyère Research Institute Chair in Primary Health Care in Dementia. Her research expertise is in the use of population-level health administrative data to examine older adults' health and health care needs, especially in those living with Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.

Dr. Marc-André Langlois is a molecular virologist with a background in microbiology and immunology that studies the interplay between retroviruses (HIV) and host immune defenses. Dr. Langlois is a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa and the Canada Research Chair in Molecular Virology and Intrinsic Immunity. He is also a member of the College of the Royal Society of Canada.

Dr. Daniel El Kodsi holds doctor at in Neuroscience from the University of Ottawa. As a clinical neuroscientist his work focused on neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson Disease and dementia. With an interest in research on the aging population, he is now the Clinical Research Project Manager of the Bruyère Immunity Study.

Kerry Moloney, MA is the research operations manager for Dr. Amy Hsu, she is responsible for financial management related to this study.

Zaina, MSc, is the Project Coordinator for this study, responsible for coordinating with the Ontario long term care homes. She’s privileged to be part of a great team as we work to fight this pandemic for Canada’s vulnerable populations. On her downtime she enjoys running, skiing, and hiking.

Leora Simon, MSc, is a research coordinator in the McGill department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health for Dr. Erin Strumpf and Dr. Scott Weichenthal.  Leora has a unique background spanning numerous fields of research including pre-clinical biomedical research, clinical research and patient engagement.

Seles Yung is currently pursuing her MSc at the UBC Centre for Health Services and Policy Research under the supervision of Dr. Kimberlyn McGrail. Her research interests include aging and health services use and cost for the older adult population.

Anna Cooper Reed, MSW, is a PhD student at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation and holds a Master of Social Work, from the Factor Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Anna has practiced social work in the community, long-term care and hospital, predominantly working with older adults.

Maya Murmann received her MSc in Health Economics from the London School of Economics and her HBA in Economics and Health Studies from the University of Toronto. Maya is currently a Research Assistant at the Bruyère Research Institute working under supervision of Dr. Amy Hsu.

Alixe Ménard received her BSc. in Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa and started her MSc. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences in September 2021. She is currently working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Amy Hsu. Her research interests focus on dementia healthcare, LTC and palliative care for older adults.

Annie Sun received her Master of Public Health from Western University. She is currently working as a Research Assistant at the Bruyère Research Institute under supervision of Dr. Amy Hsu.

Shehreen Hossain received her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Alberta. Her work is focused on population and public health research, data management, biostatistical data analyses and result synthesis. Shehreen is currently a Research Coordinator for the COVID-19 Immunity Study at the Bruyère Research Institute under the supervision of Dr. Amy Hsu. On her downtime she enjoys gardening, travelling and listening to music.

Melina received her BSc. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill and began her MSc. in Public Health in September 2021. In her free time, she likes hiking, drinking hot chocolate, and hanging out with her dog.

Shane is the visual designer at Bruyère Research Institute. He graduated from Algonquin College. He enjoys dungeons & dragons, board games, and iced coffee.

Samantha is the project visual design of this project. She is currently a Graduate student in Human-Computer Interaction program at Carleton University. Her role in the project is creating user-friendly content to hep communicate research to participants.

Cameron developed the original public-facing CANImmunize app in 2011 and has been the lead technical architect ever since. Cameron also built the Canadian Vaccine Catalogue (CVC) in 2016; the CVC is a comprehensive, standards-based south-of-truth resource for vaccine terminology and product information in Canada. Currently, he is leading the development of CANImmunize’s Clinic Flow, a software solution that provides organizations with end-to-end management of mass immunization campaigns.
